SANDESH MOULDS

Sandesh moulds (chhanch) are tiny wooden tools that give Bengal’s famous sweet its beautiful shapes. They are primarily crafted from teak wood and are hand-carved, with each design created in reverse to ensure the sweet comes out perfectly shaped. The designs are endless, from roses, mangoes, fish, paan leaves, butterflies, to even phrases. Some moulds are made specifically for weddings and festivals. These moulds are not just kitchen tools, but they are miniature artworks that carry Bengal’s sweet traditions.
